I know! I wonder...
The "I know! I wonder..." activity is designed to create an environment conducive to collaborative learning. Participants can take stock of a subject to see what they have already learned and what they still have questions about.
Pre-requisites
Import the Beekast "I know! I wonder..." model.
Prepare opening questions to guide participants on what they know and what they wonder about the topic to be discussed.
Process
Overview
Specify the subject of the meeting before starting the activity so that everyone understands where they stand.
Explain how the activity will work and invite everyone to think about what they already know and what questions they have.
Exploration
Ask each participant to fill in the first "I know" column with information or facts they know about the subject.
Then ask them to fill in the second "I wonder" column with any questions they have about the subject.
Discussion
Start by exploring the points written in the "I know" column to see what the group already knows. This will ensure that you don't spend too much time on points that have already been covered, thus saving time.
Then move on to the questions in the "I wonder" column to identify areas where the group would like to know more or clarify any doubts.
Summary
Once the discussion is over, take stock of the key insights and main questions raised by the group to get an overall picture of the team's understanding of the topic.
Make a note of key points and questions that require further action or research in the "Actions" section to keep a record.
Suggestions and variations
Use the "I know! I wonder..." activity at the beginning and end of a training session to measure changes in participants' knowledge and questions.
For virtual meetings, adapt the activity using online tools that allow simultaneous collaboration on the boards.
