QWL Barometer

> Survey Employees

The "QWL Barometer" (Quality of Life at Work) session model is a set of tools designed to engage employees in a process aimed at continuously improving their quality of life at work.

Template presentation

This model focuses on listening to employees and taking their expectations and needs into account in order to positively influence the company's HR policies. The sequence consists of 6 parts:

  1. Introduction
  2. The meaning 💡
  3. Personal development 🧠
  4. The feeling of esteem 🫵
  5. The feeling of belonging ⚽️
  6. The feeling of security 🔐

Tips: Ensure the confidentiality of answers to encourage honesty and transparency among employees.

Preparing the meeting

To prepare your "QWL Barometer" session effectively, share this session a few weeks before the meeting dedicated to analysing the results.

What you need to prepare:

Import the session template and customise the necessary parts by adding your dates and the name of your company.

Share the session with all your employees, mentioning the deadline for taking part in the barometer.

What your team needs to prepare:

Moderating the meeting

The "QWL Barometer" session model is designed to operate asynchronously, enabling participants to contribute to the evaluation and improvement of the quality of working life in their own time, over a given period.

However, it is strongly recommended that an "All Hands" meeting be planned with all employees once the "QWL Barometer" has been completed, in order to share and interpret the results together.

1. Presentation and discussion

Start by presenting a summary of the results of the "Perception of QWL" form. Collectively discuss the areas for improvement and encourage an open dialogue on the suggestions and initiatives to be taken.

2. Drawing up the Action Plan

Based on the results and the discussion, work as a group to complete the "Action Plan" workshop. Define clear objectives, assign responsibilities and set deadlines for implementation.

This encourages an open dialogue on areas for improvement and enables management to present a targeted action plan in response to the expectations expressed. Such a meeting is crucial if employees are to feel listened to and involved in the process of continuously improving their working environment.

The following "QWL Barometer" will provide a valuable opportunity to measure the impact of the actions implemented and to observe in concrete terms whether the initiatives taken have helped to improve the quality of life at work.

Meeting summary

Once the deadline for participation has passed, close the session in order to analyse it.

The summary of the "QWL Barometer" should cover the following aspects:

Participation rate: Observation of the number of employees who took part in the survey, reflecting their commitment and interest in the initiative to improve the quality of working life.

Survey Results/Forms : Presentation of the quantitative and qualitative data collected, including responses to open-ended questions and comments that may provide insight into employees' feelings and opinions.

Areas for Improvement (Weak Points): Identification of areas where the score is below expectations, indicating opportunities for improvement. These are often aspects of QWL that require immediate attention and specific action.

Strengths: Recognition of areas where feedback is particularly positive, suggesting that these aspects are valued by employees and should be maintained or even strengthened.

The summary should also highlight the importance of these observations in developing a responsive action plan to meet the needs identified, and how these actions are envisaged for implementation within the company. It is essential that employees see that their feedback is not only listened to but also translated into concrete action, reinforcing their feeling of being heard and valued.

Once your analysis is ready, you can schedule an "All Hands" meeting to share the results!

Suggestions and variations

  • Share the QWL barometer report with your employees. This report will be the roadmap for future improvements in QWL.
  • Consider conducting the "QWL Barometer" on a regular basis to maintain commitment and monitor progress over time.
  • Vary the data collection methods (surveys, interviews, focus groups) for a richer, more diversified analysis!
